Lip Blush

Assorted blush makeup bottles displayed on a shelf, featuring vibrant shades for beauty looks.

Please drink as much water as possible in the 2 weeks leading up to your appointment. The more hydrated you are, the more accepting the lip tissue is of pigment.

If your lips are dry and flakey, results may heal patchy and undesirable. If you have dry lips, I’d advise using an exfoliator once a day for 7 days prior to your treatment and a moisturising balm.

Stop using any skin thinners (Vitamin A, glycolic acids, exfoliation) on the area 2 weeks prior to your appointment.

Any waxing or shaving should be done at least 2 days before.

Cosmetic botox or fillers should be done 2 weeks prior.

DO NOT consume alcohol, caffeine or take any blood thinners (aspirin, ibuprofen, etc) 48 hours before your procedure.

We will not be able to tattoo over any blemishes, sores, and moles in the area.

We cannot treat melanin rich lips, so please do not book in if you have any dark areas to your lips.

You must not have taken roaccutane in the last 12 months and be at least 6 months post any chemotherapy or radiotherapy .

Do not plan a sun holiday until at least 2 weeks after lip blush.

Those with previous PMU must send over pictures to allow us to assess if we can go over the previous work. Micropigmentation done elsewhere cannot always be covered up & you will lose your deposit if you arrive & cannot have the treatment.

Please note, lip blush is a two part process and all new clients will require a top up session.

If you have ever suffered with cold sores, even just once, you will need to obtain anti-viral medication and start this 5 days before your lip blush treatment and continue 5 days after. Lip Blush can bring out cold sores even if you haven’t had them for years. Tablets can be bought from any online pharmacy, we recommend www.doctorfox.co.uk

Lip Blush Aftercare

Immediately after the treatment make sure you drink lots of water. Days 2-5  you may experience some flaking, tenderness, dryness and swelling.

Apply moisturising balm as needed – do not let your lips dry out.

Avoid excessive sweating for the first 10 days.

Avoid getting the area wet for 2 weeks (dab dry if you get your lips wet before this point)

Drink all cold and hot drinks through a straw for the first 4 days.

Do not expose the area to any extreme temperatures. This includes sunbathing, tanning beds, saunas etc for 2 weeks.

No botox or filler for 2 weeks after.

Do not use any makeup on the area until fully healed.

Do not pick, scratch or rub the area, or the colour will heal unevenly/ could cause scarring and infection.

Do not use exfoliants, retinol acids, or AHAs on the area. It will fade your tattoo prematurely.

The colour will be darker straight after the treatment and may go darker the next day, as the pigment oxidises in the skin.

Once healed, the pigment may look like it has disappeared or ‘not worked’ DON’T WORRY – this is completely normal and part of the healing process. Your skin is healing on the inside and the colour will bloom back this can take up to 4 weeks.
